If you need help
The Land Loss Prevention Project strives to serve as many financially distressed and limited resource farmers and landowners as we can with our limited resources. If you have a problem you think we may be able to help you with, please do not hesitate to contact us.
When you contact us, what typically happens is that we will set up an appointment to do a brief over-the-phone intake procedure (usually later in the day or the next business day). After intake is completed, the file goes to our Deputy Director, who determines whether the case meets certain requirements -- for example, that the potential client meets LLPP's income requirements or that the case falls within LLPP's organizational mission.
If the case satisfies preliminary criteria, it is assigned to a staff attorney who -- along with the Deputy Director -- makes a final decision whether to accept the case. A great many factors go into a decision to take a case, such as LLPP's present caseload, the prospective client's geographic location, and financial circumstance, the legal merits of the case, and so on.
In the event that we cannot take a case, we try to refer the individual seeking help to an attorney who may be able to offer assistance.
