KARLA MCLUCAS

Karla M. McLucas, PhD was employed for 14+ years as Assistant and then tenured Associate Professor of Sociology in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences She directed the Honors Program at Bennett College for two years. The College is in Greensboro, NC.   Dr. McLucas is now employed as an adjunct professor at Bennett College and works as a consultant to several non-profit organizations.

Prior to joining the Bennett faculty, Dr. McLucas held senior positions in a variety of local, state, and regional agencies.  She served as the Director of the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations for the State of Missouri and was employed with the City of Los Angeles’ Department of City Planning in the community and transportation planning sections.  Dr. McLucas is a board member of Urban Strategies, Inc. headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, a member of the East Greensboro Rotary Club, and holds various memberships diverse organizations, such as the American Sociological Association, the Southern Sociological Society, and the NAACP.
